Akki Muhurtha

’Akki Muhurta’, which forms part of the four-part ritual in the run-up to the Paryaya celebrations, is a traditional practice to gather rice for ’Annadana’ during the two years before the next Paryaya Peetha ascension.

This ceremony is the second in line of the four rituals that are performed by the Sri Swamiji before ascending the Paryaya throne. ‘Bale Muhurtha', ‘Akki Muhurtha', ‘Kattige Muhurtha’ and ‘Bhattha Muhurtha’ are the four rituals.

Rituals were performed to ‘Akki Mudi’, that was kept in the golden chariot, marking the ceremony of ‘Akki Muhurtha’. ‘Mahamangalastike’, ‘Dhanyalaxmi Pooja' and ‘Navagraha Pooja’ was performed on the occasion. Seers of ‘Ashta math’ were offered a ritualistic ceremonial welcome at Pejawar Matha. Seers performed ‘Malika Mangalarathi’ to Sri Sri Vishweshatheertha Swamiji on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion Pejawar Swamiji announced that special care shall be taken to provide necessary facilities to the pilgrims who shall be visiting Udupi and also the cleanliness shall be maintained at Udupi Krishna mutt premises during Paryaya.
